U.S. President Barack Obama issued an executive order Tuesday to establish a Senior Intellectual Property Enforcement Advisory Committee to strengthen the nation's efforts of reinvigorating U.S. competitiveness globally and accelerating its export growth.
The inter-agency was aimed at encouraging innovation through the effective enforcement of laws protecting copyrights, patents, trademarks, trade secrets and other forms of intellectual property, both in the United States and abroad, the White House said in a statement Tuesday.
The committee shall be chaired by the U.S. Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator, while other members include the heads of the departments of state, treasury, justice, agriculture and commerce, or their deputies, according to the statement.
